Is Google Flow Free? Pricing, Credits & Limits (2026)
Is Google Flow free? See Flow's 50 daily credits, Google AI plan prices, credit costs per Veo 3.1 clip, peak-hour limits, and what free credits really buy.

Quick Answer: Partly. Google's credits page says every Flow account gets 50 free credits per day, which is enough for about two Veo 3.1 Fast clips or five Veo 3.1 Lite clips, but not a single Veo 3.1 Quality clip. Google's eligibility page, however, lists a Google AI Plus, Pro or Ultra subscription as a requirement, so check what your own account shows. Paid plans add monthly credits and free 1080p upscaling, and the peak-hour pause Google describes applies to non-subscribers.
Google Flow is Google's AI filmmaking tool built around Veo 3.1, Gemini Omni Flash and Nano Banana. It runs on credits, and the question "is Google Flow free?" has a slightly messy answer because two of Google's own help pages say different things. This guide lays out what Google states, what 50 daily credits actually buy, how the paid plans compare, and which limits matter before you pay.
All numbers below come from Google's Flow help pages as of October 2026. Prices are approximate and vary by region, so check Google's page for your country before you subscribe.
What's Free in Google Flow (and the Contradiction)
According to Google's Flow credits help page, every account gets 50 Flow credits per day, with or without a subscription. The daily refresh starts with your first generation of the day, and unused daily credits do not carry over to the next day.
Google's eligibility page tells a different story. It lists three requirements to use Flow:
- You must be 18 or older (age verified).
- You must be located in a supported region.
- You must be subscribed to Google AI Plus, Google AI Pro or Google AI Ultra, or be on a qualifying Google Workspace plan.
So the credits page says every account gets 50 daily credits, while the eligibility page lists an AI Plus/Pro/Ultra subscription as a requirement. We can't tell you which page wins for your account. The honest advice is to open Google Flow, sign in, and check what your own account shows. If you see a daily credit balance without a subscription, you can use Flow for free within those 50 credits. If you're asked to subscribe, the free tier isn't available to you.
One clear exception: qualifying Google Workspace plans get Flow at no extra charge with 50 daily credits, but your admin has to enable it.
Google Flow Pricing: Plans and Monthly Credits
Flow itself has no separate price tag. You pay for a Google AI plan, and each plan adds monthly Flow credits on top of the daily allowance.
| Plan | Approx. price (USD/month) | Monthly Flow credits |
|---|---|---|
| No subscription | $0 | 0 (50 daily credits per the credits page) |
| Google AI Plus | about $4.99 | 200 |
| Google AI Pro | about $19.99 | 1,000 |
| Google AI Ultra (lower tier) | about $99.99 | 10,000 |
| Google AI Ultra (higher tier) | about $199.99 | 25,000 |
| Qualifying Google Workspace | included | 50 daily credits (admin must enable) |
Prices are public Google One pricing in USD and may differ in your country. Check Google's page for your country before you buy.
Subscribers in supported regions can also buy extra AI credits. That option is not available in Japan.
Google Flow Credits: What Each Generation Costs
Credit cost depends on the model and, for Veo, on whether you're on Ultra. Veo clips in Flow are 4, 6 or 8 seconds long, and you can lengthen them with Extend.
| Generation | Credits (Free / Plus / Pro) | Credits (Ultra) |
|---|---|---|
| Veo 3.1 Lite | 10 | 5 (0 on lower priority) |
| Veo 3.1 Fast | 20 | 10 |
| Veo 3.1 Quality (8 s) | 100 | 100 |
| Gemini Omni Flash 720p, 4 s | 7 | — |
| Gemini Omni Flash 720p, 6 s | 10 | — |
| Gemini Omni Flash 720p, 8 s | 12 | — |
| Gemini Omni Flash 720p, 10 s | 15 | — |
| Omni editing | 40 | — |
| 1080p upscale | Free for Plus/Pro; not available without a subscription | Free |
| 4K upscale | Not available | 50 |
Google lists Ultra discounts only for Lite and Fast, so a dash means no separate Ultra price is listed. The zero-credit Lite option is for Ultra only, and Google says it may rate-limit generations, especially on zero-credit models. If you want to understand the trade-off between the speed and quality tiers, our Veo 3 Fast vs Quality comparison covers it in more detail.
What Google Flow Free Credits Actually Buy
Here is what 50 daily credits cover if you spend them on a single model:
| Model | Cost per clip | Clips from 50 daily credits | Credits left over |
|---|---|---|---|
| Veo 3.1 Lite | 10 | 5 | 0 |
| Veo 3.1 Fast | 20 | 2 | 10 |
| Veo 3.1 Quality | 100 | 0 | 50 |
| Omni Flash 4 s | 7 | 7 | 1 |
| Omni Flash 8 s | 12 | 4 | 2 |
| Omni editing | 40 | 1 | 10 |
A few things stand out:
- You can't make a Veo 3.1 Quality clip on free credits. One Quality clip costs 100 credits, double the daily allowance, and daily credits don't stack up.
- Two Fast clips leave 10 credits, which is exactly one more Lite clip. So a realistic free day is two Fast clips plus one Lite clip, or five Lite clips.
- Free clips can't be upscaled to 1080p. 1080p upscaling is free for Plus, Pro and Ultra, but not available to non-subscribers.
For comparison, here is roughly what each plan's monthly credits buy, not counting the daily 50:
| Plan | Lite clips | Fast clips | Quality clips |
|---|---|---|---|
| AI Plus (200) | 20 | 10 | 2 |
| AI Pro (1,000) | 100 | 50 | 10 |
| AI Ultra (10,000) | 2,000 | 1,000 | 100 |
| AI Ultra (25,000) | 5,000 | 2,500 | 250 |
Ultra pays half price for Lite and Fast, which is why its clip counts jump so much. As a rough guide, AI Pro works out to about $0.02 per credit, or about $0.40 per Fast clip and about $2 per Quality clip, if you use the whole monthly allowance.
Google Flow Limits to Know Before You Rely on It
Free credits are only part of the picture. These limits shape what you can actually do:
- Peak hours for non-subscribers. Google says non-subscribers may be unable to generate videos around 2–5 PM UTC. If that window falls in your working day, the free tier is hard to plan around.
- No 1080p upscale without a plan. 1080p upscaling is free for subscribers and not available to non-subscribers.
- 4K is Ultra only. 4K upscaling costs 50 credits and is limited to AI Ultra.
- Credits don't roll over. Unused daily and monthly credits expire. A quiet week doesn't bank credits for a busy one.
- No extra credits in Japan. Subscribers in supported regions can buy extra AI credits, but not in Japan.
- Region list. Flow is available in about 150 countries and territories, but not in places such as China, Russia, Iran, Belarus and Cuba. It isn't available in every country where Google AI Pro is sold, and VPNs don't enable access.
- EEA, Switzerland and UK. Editing uploaded videos and Avatars are not available there.
- Age and content rules. You must be 18 or older. Flow doesn't allow editing uploaded videos of identifiable minors or making videos of prominent people.
- Watermarks. All Flow outputs carry an invisible SynthID watermark. A visible watermark can be toggled, but it is applied automatically for users in India, South Korea and Vietnam.
Is a Paid Google Flow Plan Worth It?
It depends on how often you generate and what quality you need.
| You are… | Best fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Curious, testing a few ideas | Free daily credits (if your account has them) | Two Fast or five Lite clips a day is enough to learn prompting |
| Hobbyist posting a few shorts a week | AI Plus | 200 extra credits and 1080p upscaling for about $4.99 |
| Creator posting regularly | AI Pro | 1,000 credits covers about 50 Fast or 10 Quality clips a month |
| Studio or agency producing daily | AI Ultra | Half-price Lite/Fast, zero-credit Lite, 4K upscale |
| Workspace user | Ask your admin | Flow may already be included at no extra charge |
Our take: Flow is a strong tool if you live in a supported country, already pay for a Google AI plan, and mostly work with Veo 3.1 and Gemini Omni. The free tier is a fair way to try it, not a way to produce finished work, mainly because Quality clips and 1080p are out of reach. For a walkthrough of the tool itself, see our guide on how to use Google Flow.
Cheaper or Alternative Routes
Flow won't suit everyone. Common reasons people look elsewhere:
- Flow isn't available in their country, or they're in Japan and can't top up credits.
- They don't want a Google AI subscription just to make a few videos.
- They're a non-subscriber whose working hours overlap the 2–5 PM UTC peak window.
- They need 4K output without paying for Ultra.
- They want models Google doesn't offer.
If that's you, Veo3 AI is one Google Flow alternative. Veo3 AI is an independent platform and is not affiliated with Google. It doesn't require a Google AI subscription and isn't tied to Flow's country list, though you should still check availability where you live.
What it offers, in brief:
- Free sign-up with free starter credits and no credit card.
- Veo 3.1 with 8-second clips, native audio, 16:9 or 9:16, and both text-to-video and image-to-video with first and last frame. Veo 3.1 Lite is also available.
- Other models in one place: Gemini Omni, Seedance 2.5 and 2.0, Kling 3.0, Sora 2 and MiniMax H3, plus Nano Banana Pro and GPT Image for images.
- 4K output on the Standard plan, without an Ultra-level price.
| Veo3 AI plan | Billed yearly | Billed monthly | Monthly credits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mini | $12/mo | $20/mo | 200 |
| Standard | $30/mo | $50/mo | 1,000, with 4K output |
| Plus | $60/mo | $99/mo | 3,000 |
Output on Veo 3.1 is 720p, 1080p or 4K depending on plan. Like Flow, monthly credits on Veo3 AI don't roll over. Full details are on the Veo3 AI pricing page. If Flow already works for you and you're happy inside Google's ecosystem, stick with Flow. If one of the gaps above is a deal-breaker, a Google Flow alternative is worth a test with free credits first.
